Our new son arrived on Sunday, December 7th. I had been feeling nauseous and achey all day, and in the evening I felt a contraction that was strong enough to make me glance at the clock. 5:15, then another one 7 minutes later, 6 minutes later, 5 minutes later. We headed for the hospital and Timothy was born just before 8:30.
He weighed 9 pounds, 7.4 ounces, and was 22 inches long. When I first laid eyes on him I was amazed at how big and fat he was!
We named him Timothy, after my father. His middle name is Joshua. Will is not crazy about the nickname TJ, so we're staying away from that, but my coworkers have already started calling him Tiny Tim. He also goes by Squeak, because of a noise he makes that sounds like a rubber ducky.
This labor and delivery was a totally different experience from the first. With Liam, I was induced, and had an epidural. This time, it was all natural. Afterward I felt like I had performed a miracle, was convinced that centuries from now, the faithful would make pilgrimages to Minneapolis so they could touch my hospital gown.
Timothy is a sweet baby. He is calm and content, and he only cries when he is hungry or needs a fresh diaper. Looking back, now I realize what an anxious infant Liam was - or maybe it was his parents who were anxious. Timothy is strong and healthy, and similar to his big brother, he could lift and hold his head steady right at birth.
We've had quite an eventful week, which I will elaborate on in some other posts. But all things considered, we're doing great and we're thrilled to be a foursome.
Congrats on the new little one! I was wondering when we were going to see a pic on here. :) Janine also had her baby this week and it was a girl! They are thrilled. Give Squeak a kiss from his auntie Gretch.
ReplyDeleteHe is so cute! I can't wait to meet him in person!
