Lutsen in pictures

This year's summer vacation was 5 days at the north shore (of Lake Superior).

Here are Liam and TJ at Grand Portage. We drove up to Thunder Bay just for kicks, and no offense to Canada, but it was so boring. The only cool thing there was a place called TJ's Ice Cream, where we had to stop of course.

We had a suite at Lutsen resort. Several evenings we ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and one night the boys got to watch a movie. Meanwhile Will and I had a mini date on the deck.

Yeah, I was there too.

Lots of waterfalls, and the water was high due to rain this year.

The kids found some friends to play with on the beach. WHY IS IT THAT YOUNG BOYS CAN'T TALK TO EACH OTHER WITHOUT SHOUTING?

Here's the main lodge where we ate breakfast and played a few games of air hockey and ping pong. One night there was a naturalist program and bonfire on the beach. I was really interested in the forest facts, and Will was interested in having a little quiet time by the shore with a beer, and the boys were interested in rubbing melted marshmallows in their hair. So pretty much everyone was happy.

We did a lot of this.

Here's Will and TJ in one sled, Liam in another, and several other people also stacked up behind a grandma on the alpine slide. She inched all the way down with the brakes on. Will was a *little* unhappy about that. They got a free do-over at least.

Best investment ever: two $1 magnifying glasses.

This was about the best picture I could get of the three of them together. Too much to look at, too much to climb, can't sit still.
