Bike season was a long time coming in Minnesota this year, and now that it's here, we're embracing it. On Sunday, we followed the creek path out to Minnehaha Falls, then parked our bikes and walked the last mile to the Mississippi River. It was a gorgeous day, and lovely to see the forest coming back to life, budding with green leaves and purple blossoms. I'm still trying to decide what the best part was: the ride itself, stopping for frozen yogurt on the way home, or having no whining on the entire trip. It was a wonderful mother's day gift to me.Tonight Will was out at a softball game, so I took the boys to the lakeside pavilion for dinner. We sat by Lake Calhoun, watching the sun descend as we munched on fish tacos (me) and hot dogs (them) and waffle fries (all of us). It's about 6 miles out there, 4 miles back, and Liam is pretty comfortable with this distance now. In fact he might be getting a little cocky on the bike. At one point he was ahead of me, showing off, put his feet up on the crossbar and then turned around to say "hey Mom look at me" while veering off the path and down the embankment...but he made an applause-worthy recovery. And, he rode up The Hill, even the steepest part, which has been the source of much lamentation and drama.
Meanwhile TJ is sitting behind me on the Third Wheel, mouth flapping nonstop as usual. He wants to install a jet pack on our bike so we can go really fast. He also made up a song, "Oh I wish, I was a fish, I wish I was a fish, that did not taste good!"

Sorry we haven't been able to join you for a bike ride yet. But I don't feel too guilty since I usually don't know about them until 5 minutes before. haha kidding :)
