| The birthday girl with Liam, TJ, and Hunter |
Remember our friend Michelle, who saved my sanity by helping out with Liam's birthday party? Today we celebrated her birthday, and once again she made it a special day for my boys. The party was at the Jackson Street Roundhouse, a local railroad museum with a working turntable and lots of old cars to explore. The whole birthday ensemble got a ride on a caboose, except for the kids, who got to ride in the cab with Michelle and Melissa. I perched up in the cupola.
After the train ride and cake, the kids were getting restless, so we said goodbye to our friends and went over to the entrance to play with toy trains for a few minutes before getting in the car. A few minutes turned into half an hour, and pretty much everyone else had left. Then the station master came over and asked if the boys and I would like another ride. ON THE TURNTABLE. Um, yeah!! So we climbed aboard the engine and they backed onto the turntable, then spun around 180 degrees, and backed out again to uncouple the caboose. We got to watch them pull out the pin and hear the hose blast air as it disconnected. Even I thought it was pretty cool. The boys were thrilled.

A little side note and a couple more photos...we had a lot of fun yesterday too. I took the boys to a movie, did a little Dollar Tree and Targetto shopping, and got out the plastic pool to cool off. After Will came home from work, we biked to the lake and had dinner at Tin Fish. We've done so many fun things lately, that Liam has begun asking me five times a day, "What are we doing special today [tomorrow, after lunch, etc]?"
