Kitty Returns

Liam received an orange stuffed cat when Timothy was born, and became very attached to it.  Then he accidentally left it at a McDonald's in Wisconsin, around the end of last summer. We attempted to get it back, but nobody turned it in at the restaurant.  He was devastated.  Over the following months, he continued to mourn Kitty and say how much he missed her.

Last week, we were at a friend's house and they had the same kind of cat.  In one of my all time worst parenting moments, I pointed it out to Liam.  "Oh look, that reminds me of that kitty you used to have."  Liam burst into tears.  He was weepy the rest of the evening, and the next day.

So I got on Ebay.  It turns out this particular stuffed animal is now a collector's item, out of production, and going for $25-30.  After quite a bit of hunting, I finally found a "previously loved" one with no tags, and ordered it.  Best $4.99 I ever spent.

It came in yesterday's mail.  Liam opened the package, and the most beautiful grin broke across his face.  "My Kitty!"  I was prepared for him to question whether it was the original kitty, ask where it had been all this time, and how it got back to us...he is our skeptic, after all...but he has simply welcomed that cat back into his heart, and played with it almost nonstop.  (He no longer takes it out of the house though, lest it get lost again.)

  1. For a month now, that kitty has been Liam's best friend! It waits for us by the door whenever we're gone.
