The other day I was explaining to Liam that a scissors is similar to a pliers, because they are tools that have two pieces which work in opposition to each other. (I really talk to my 2-year-old like this, and he acts like he understands.) He thought about this for a moment. "But hands are not similar."
Then we saw a poster for the movie 101 Dalmatians. He said, "Pot and Puddos!" Spot and Puddles are our pretend dogs, and I often make up stories about their misadventures. It all started when we got a birthday card with a photo of two dalmatians on it. I said the cartoon looked similar to our photo of Spot and Puddles. Liam nodded wisely.
Lately, when I pick Liam up, he gives me a couple of firm pats on the back. Mimicking what Will does when he picks up Liam. Similar.
