"I need another dozen bagels," I said sheepishly, standing in Bruegger's for the second time today.
I got up early so I would have time to stop there on the way to church, and get bagels and soup for a luncheon I was helping to host later. I dropped the food and a signup poster off, just in time for the early worship service. Afterward, as I chatted with a friend and went to get a cup of coffee, and I noticed they were almost out of bagels at the treat table. Wait...bagels?! Our luncheon bagels had been purloined. But it was an accident, of course. I should have written a note on the bag.
So, then it was back to Bruegger's for another dozen, home to have a quick cup of coffee with Will, then haul Liam back over to church and hold him in one arm as I attempted to slice a pan of lemon bars with the other. But everything turned out great in the end. I am continually grateful for folks who not only tolerate Liam at these events, but seem to enjoy his rowdy, sticky presence. And it's fun being part of a church community where everyone jumps in to help, even if that means taking the initiative to open the wrong bag of bagels once in a while.
AAH! Bagelgate!
