Long Beach

I've been on the road again. Last week Monday-Thursday I was in Long Beach, CA for a business trip. I attended a conference where I had an exhibit for my company, and I also led one of the workshops.

While I was there, I ran into two people I had met before. One was a guy I met at the same conference a couple of years ago, and we had talked about a business he has that imports hand made wooden knitting needles from Vietnam. I had not spoken to him since, but remembering that conversation, he brought me a pair of beautiful needles as a gift.

The other was Tom Triplett, who taught a class I took at St. Thomas about 5 years ago. He made me a bet that two years from now, I will be working for a nonprofit. We'll see, I said.

Interestingly, both of these men commented that I have "grown up" since last time they saw me. I have been so focused on Liam's development that I haven't given a thought to my own. But I hope they are right, that even without any conscious effort, I have in fact continued to mature.
