Color study

Tonight in painting class we focussed on color. I was feeling that I had regressed a bit. I couldn't seem to get the vegetables framed right, and the onion was nearly bringing tears to my eyes. The instructor was doing her rounds, and when she came to me, she picked up my brush to show where the bowl needed to be a little warmer brown...and then she gasped. "Oh! This is horrible!"

Turns out she was talking about my brush. "How can you paint with these?!"

I like the garlic and the brightness of the squash in this one. The onion actually turned out very true to its real color, which was kind of the point of the exercise, but I don't like it. I was just starting to fix the onion when we ran out of time. I will probably never finish it, considering how difficult it is to paint at home right now. I can just see Liam, getting his fingers in the wet paint and smearing it all over the house.
