Look who's sitting up

Liam is now 6 months old, and he has been practicing sitting up. He can balance for 15 seconds or so on his own. Then he tips over and you'd better be there to catch him, or he gets quite indignant. He is learning so many things, he changes from one day to the next! Today he fed himself a cracker for the first time. He loves "do it myself" and insists on holding his spoon or his toothbrush, gagging himself and grinning.

Whereas Liam is progressing, I must be regressing. Thursday I tripped over my own feet and I think I might have broken a toe. Later that same day, I was making a grilled cheese sandwich and I thought I'd just check my email...when I came back to the kitchen there was a smoking, sandwich-shaped piece of charcoal in the pan. (I had a lot of messages, okay? I'm popular.) So I removed it from the burner and turned on the exhaust fan. Then the fan FELL off the wall and landed on my sandwich!

Continuing my streak of bad luck, Friday morning I hurt my back. I don't know quite how I did it, but holy smokes, did it hurt. I was seeing sparklies, my vision started going dark, and I almost puked. I called Will and asked him to come home from work because I didn't know if I would be able to take care of Liam. (Picking up the phone was hard enough; I couldn't imagine trying to handle a squirmy 17-pound boy at that point.) I lay in bed for a couple hours, covered with ice packs, something popped in my shoulder, and after that I started to feel better. I'm still pretty sore but improving.
