Fishtopher

Tony (Will's brother), Yumi and Christopher are visiting from Shanghai for a couple of weeks.

We just got back from Uncle Jim & Aunt Donna's cabin, where we spent the weekend with Tony, Yumi, Christopher, Bill & MK. Christopher got to go fishing for the first time, under the tutelage of his grandpa. There were dozens, maybe even hundreds of little bluegills and sunfish swarming around the dock, and he was catching them with worms or even with a bare hook. In his excitement, rather than reeling them in, he would just hoist them onto the dock and let them flop around, then dip them in the other side, then swing them wildly around...one captive came up to the cabin in a bucket, and was promptly christened Fishtopher. We had a fish releasing ceremony before we left, where I recited an impromptu poem with some help from Tony.

Whereas Christopher is mad about fishing, Liam is mad about Christopher. He stared at his cousin all weekend. I think Christopher would have preferred not to share his parents' attention with "Baby Pumpkinhead" but Yumi and Tony got a kick out of Liam and were very patient with his night-time yowling.

We didn't get Liam to sleep the first night until 1:30, and he was up again by 4:00. Maybe it was the unfamiliar place, or maybe he's just going through a development spurt that is disrupting his normal rhythm. He got his second tooth on Friday and he rolled over from front to back for the first time today.
