Mom was here for a visit this weekend.
Friday evening Mom, Will and I walked over to Prima, a local Italian restaurant, and shared a couple of dishes among the three of us. It was a nice long walk and we got to check out some of the houses for sale in the neighborhood. One of them was posted for over $500K - hard to believe it's that high, even for such a nice house.
And then the exhausting part began. Saturday, Mom & I went on a six hour shopping adventure. We started at the farmer's market, which was lively in spite of the wind and drizzle. They had lots of plants for sale, and we indulged in some petunias for a hanging basket at my house, a few herbs, and gerbera daisies for outdoor pots. Later it was on to Ikea. It was Mom's first time there, and I think she was a little overwhelmed - if you've ever been to this mega-maze of a home store, you understand what I mean. It's been a gloomy May, with 3 straight weeks of overcast, but when we got back home Saturday there was enough sunlight to tuck the new plants into their beds. The final item on Saturday's agenda was the inauguration of Mom's rug shampoo machine. Two bottles of detergent and 24 hours later, we had sucked six years of grime out of the living room carpet.
Sunday morning, we had Joan over for breakfast, and then we all went to church together at ECLC. Susan, Amy and Kelly were there too, and I had my nametag from my very own cubbyhole...starting to feel like home! Joan and I will officially join in a few weeks. Then we watched Will's soccer game, did some more gardening, and made a dessert from the neighbor's rhubarb.
Looking back, I can't believe all the stuff we got done! Thanks Mom!
The plants are still alive.
