All about my week

Last week I found myself in the rare situation of voluntary unemployment: a short break between jobs. Monday was my last day at thedatabank, and my new job would start the following Monday (which is now TOMORROW!!!) This post is going to be a litany of everything I did in the past week. Might be a little boring. But here goes.

Tuesday-Thursday the kids were at day care and camp, and I was free to get my life in order. I crossed 52 items off my to do list. A few highlights: repainted the arbor, installed a drip hose on the rain barrel, painted a wall and rearranged furniture in the boys' room, found a new home for our stroller, got a new windshield, bought new bras. I feel good about getting all this done, but there is still enough to keep me busy for a few weeks!

It wasn't all work and no play. I took the kids to the St. Louis Park pool Friday, with some friends. I went down a big water slide, on a 3-person raft, with Timothy secured tightly in front of me and Liam behind me. So fun! Then Liam wanted to go in front, TJ in the middle, me in back. That time Liam sorta ploughed under at the end, fell off, and was under water. I was all tangled up with TJ and didn't know what to do with him since the water was over his head...anyway after a few seconds Liam popped up sputtering and coughing, no rescue required. In the end I think this was a good experience for Liam, to realize he can go under and it's not such a big deal.

Saturday I took Liam to a birthday party which turned out to be a reunion of his kindergarten class. Meanwhile Will took Timmy on an outing to Bandana Square to watch the model trains. Then we did pizza night with friends - actually same people we went to the pool with, the Butler family. They have the sweetest little darling baby, and two big girls who get along great with my boys. (Don't ask me how this works, it just does.)

And today, we cruised Lake Minnetonka on the Minnehaha, a 1906 streetcar company steam boat. Liam asked the engineer a million questions, of course. Timothy did not fall overbaord, not even a little bit. So I'd call it a success. We had dinner in Excelsior at a patio table. I took an hour long bike ride around the lakes later in the evening, which was pretty much a perfect way to end my mini-vacation week.
