I really did make salsa tonight - not Amy's though since I didn't have 100 bell peppers available. It's a mango salsa out of the Moosewood cookbook. I documented with photos, and I will now post a witty account of it, just like those uber trendy bloggers.
Mmmmmmango. And the free cucumber I got from the farmer yesterday morning, along with my string beans.
P.S. Did you know purple beans turn green when you cook them? What's the point of getting pretty purple beans, if they are just going to turn green? And guess what: they aren't grape flavored, either. I feel kinda betrayed.
Anyway, you mix this stuff with some lime juice, salt, and a dash of hot sauce. Gracias, Cholula. Then you mix in cilantro. If the cilantro in your garden has gone to seed, like mine, you make an emergency substitution of fresh parsley, which is not as good but it gives the proper eye appeal.
Pulled pork, smooshed chipotles, sour cream or yogurt, salsa, warm tortilla. Beer pairing: IPA. (This is a must.)
And for dessert - wish I had a photo of these beauties - berries straight from the neighbor's raspberry bush. Okay, I stopped short of actually sticking my face in the bush and eating them hands free. Okay maybe I did, maybe I didn't.
Anyway, do you think thousands of people will want to subscribe to my blog now? Take that, Pioneer Woman.
