Will was out at broom ball practice tonight, so I told the boys we could have a special night, and watch a movie. Nothing kid-friendly was on TV, as far as I could tell, but we found the Peanuts Christmas movie on Hulu.
Now I remember why it has always been one of my favorites. There is enough physical humor (e.g. dancing Snoopy) to entertain the tiniest tot, and enough irony (e.g. Lucy's wish for real estate) and whimsy to keep adults engaged. And the characters are so innocent, yet so much like the adults we know.
Liam busted a gut in the first scene, when they cracked the whip on their skates. It was delightful, watching him watch Charlie Brown, for the first time. When Linus finished his recitation of the Christmas story from the book of Luke, my wide-eyed son whispered, "That was a really good play."
