It's not just Minnesota - Somalis have a near monopoly on driving cabs in Tennessee, too. My first driver today had the accent of a newcomer, but when I told him I was from Minnesota, right away he exclaimed, "Minnesota! Michelle Bachmann! She's CRAZY!" And then he went on to tell me you can buy a picture of yourself with Bachmann and Palin, for $10,000. "I pay ten thousand NOT to have my picture with these two!" he said.
The second cab driver was not nearly as animated, but I shared the ride with a stranger who happened to be going to the same part of town. He spoke in fortune cookies. "We must live life with our hands open." He gave me his business card and I expected it to say Yogi, but actually he is CEO of a network management company.
