Although we are not anti-TV per se, Will and I have pretty much banned the television at home while Liam is awake. He does watch it sometimes at day care, and I figure that's enough for a two-year-old. Besides, we spend so little time together during the week, that I would rather play with him than have his attention on the TV. And there aren't any toddler-friendly shows on in the evening anyway.
So, it was unusual that we had the TV on yesterday evening, while Liam was scampering around and jumping into a pile of blankets. We were watching what was likely to be the last hockey game of the Stanley Cup final.
Liam pointed, "What's that?"
Me: "It's a commercial. They are trying to get us to buy some shaving cream."
Liam: "What are they doing?"
Me: "Those pretty ladies are flying up the guy's nose. Now they are having a party inside his nose."
Sometimes fresh eyes can help you realize how ridiculous advertising gets.
