My first week back at work felt like stepping on a moving treadmill. I went to the office Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and the days went by in a blur. I had over 15,000 email messages. The spam filter took care of about half of the messages, and I deleted most of the others without even looking at them! My big accomplishments for the week were A) publishing the company newsletter, which had been on hiatus since I left, and B) proposing a new product and pricing structure. The rest of my time was spent training a new sales rep, who has been winging it for the past 3 months. It's great to be back!
I work in an open office with no private spaces, and I had been worried about finding a place to use my breast pump. I talked to the building manager and he immediately gave me the key to a vacant office down the hall, which I affectionately call The Barn. I go to The Barn twice a day, at 10:00 and 2:00, to use the milking machine and then I bring home a couple of bottles for Liam. Moo!
Liam was with his grandma Joan on Monday, grandpa Bill on Tuesday, and on Thursday Will stayed home from work. Joan discovered the Magic Sleepy Swing. We've put Liam in the swing from time to time, and he always complained loudly, but now it seems he has had a change of heart. He still whimpers a little at first, but pretty soon his eyes get heavy and he dozes off.
Next week he goes to day care - more on that next time.
